We are supporting foreign companies and individuals for their investment in Japan or
setting up a company / Branch.
The types of base in Japan and its features are as follows
| Type of base | Features |
| Branch | Branch is a base which makes a business controlled or instructed by the head office in your country. You are able to trade with Japanese company or individual on behalf of your head office, although you are not regarded as an independent legal body. To set up a branch, you need to register your branch at a Registration Office. After you set up the branch, you are required to report the establishment to the related Japanese authorities. |
| Representative
Office
| Representative office cannot have sell/buy activities in Japan. As you do not make sales, there are no duties for report or notify to the related Japanese government authorities. This type seems to be a most suitable as a base of market survey and information center purpose. |
| Company | You can set up Japanese company based on the Japanese laws. After the drastic change of Company law in 2006, the establishment of Company became easier than before. However, you have to be careful about composing “Articles of Incorporation” of the company as this implies basic company scheme such as the Location of the company, Activities of the company, Organization of the company,
Number of Directors, Period of assumption of directors, etc.

Points to be considered in setting up a Branch or a company
If you have a plan to send any Non-Japanese to this new company or branch, you have to
get a Certificate of Status for Residence for him/her from Immigration Bureau smoothly.
For this purpose, the followings should be considered before setting up company or branch.
【1】 Choose the proper type of business base (Company or Branch) as the foreign
worker's qualification relevance on the immigration law is different depending on companies or
branch offices.
【2】 Clarify Business plan in Japan as the Immigration Bureau strongly requires it.
【3】 Make a reasonable budget plan
【4】 Keep the receipts or printed records relating the facilities and other expenses in your new base
In order to avoid any problems after setting up your base, we strongly advise you to
take account immigration law into your consideration, as well.
